Security: what happens to your emails
How a PDF is made, in 4 steps
- In Gmail, you select the emails you want to save and click “Generate PDF” in the extension.
- The extension asks Gmail for those emails, and only those, with a read-only permission. They go straight to your browser.
- Your browser creates the document (PDF, HTML or TXT) in the extension’s own progress tab.
- The file is saved to the folder you choose (Downloads by default) and the temporary data is deleted.
What never leaves your computer
- The text of your emails.
- Subjects, senders and recipients.
- Attachments.
- The documents you create (PDF, HTML or TXT).
- Your settings.
What the extension cannot do
- Send, delete or change your emails: the Gmail permission is read-only.
- Read emails you have not selected to save.
- See your Google password: Google handles the sign-in.
What we do keep on our server (to run your account)
On Cloudflare, with the data stored in the European Union:
- your Google email address and an identifier of your Google account;
- the date of your first generation;
- for each generation, only the day and whether it succeeded or failed;
- the generations you have left and the ones you have bought;
- a random installation identifier, to prevent abuse of the free generations;
- the accounts you link (5 at most).
We never keep which emails you save, nor their subjects, senders or attachments.
What is stored in your browser
- Your settings and your Google permission.
- Temporary data for each generation, deleted when it finishes or is cancelled.
- If you use “Always use this password”, that password is stored in your browser, unencrypted.
When it connects to other sites (and only then)
- Google Drive: only if you turn on the Word, Excel or PowerPoint preview. It uploads a temporary copy of the attachment to your own Drive so Google can convert it, and deletes it when done.
- Images in emails: some are hosted on the sender’s website and have to be downloaded, as any email program does. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Payments: a payment provider will handle them. We will never see or keep your card details.
The “… started debugging this browser” notice
- Chrome shows it because the extension uses its debugging permission to create the PDF with Chrome’s own print engine, without opening the “Print” window for every email.
- That permission only attaches to the extension’s own progress tab while it creates the PDF, and detaches when done. When saving as HTML or TXT it is not even turned on.
- It is never used on Gmail or on any other page you visit.
This website
- It uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
You are in control
- You can withdraw the Gmail and Drive permission at any time: with “Disconnect” in the extension’s Settings or at myaccount.google.com/
permissions . - You can ask us to delete your account by writing to [email protected].
